Contramar
Mexico City was just named one of the top food destinations in the world, don’t miss your chance to eat your way through the city! This is our absolute favorite lunch spot! Start off with a margarita (or an alcohol-free suero!), aguachile verde de camaron, ceviche contramar, camaron cocktail, and you can't go wrong! - If you’re with a group that can share, they are also famous for their verde / rojo snapper, pictured above. Reservations strongly suggested, we like the outdoor seating.

Teotihuacán
Melissa is a major archeology enthusiast! Teotihuacán is a mystery in stone, just a ~50 min Uber from Mexico City. Home to the massive Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, this ancient city offers stunning views, rich history, and a glimpse into a sophisticated pre-Aztec civilization. Walk down the Avenue of the Dead, explore intricate murals, and feel the energy of a place once home to thousands. A visit to Teotihuacán is a journey through time for history and culture lovers alike.

Handshake Speakeasy
Looking for a fiesta?! This two-level speakeasy in Mexico City’s hip Colonia Juarez neighborhood has been proclaimed the world’s best bar in 2024. Inspired by the Prohibition era, pass the plush velvet curtains to the first port of call on the ground floor where the intimate space sports Gatsby vibes. Order the Fig Martini, Van Beek’s first concoction for the bar or try a popular tipple on the current menu Salt N Pepper, a fresh and spicy mezcal highball with strawberries and green peppers. Reservations recommended.

Tacos del Valle (Roma Norte)
The best street tacos.
Our favorite tacos in Mexico City! Tacos del Valle is the cream of the crop in the new-wave of taquerias taking the city. Snag a table early in the day or take advantage when you walk by and see the line is short.

Templo Mayor Archaeological Site
Visiting the Templo Mayor Archaeological Site & Museum in Mexico City is a must for history enthusiasts. Located in the heart of the Centro Histórico, this ancient Aztec temple complex was once the spiritual and political center of Tenochtitlán, the Aztec capital. Walk among the ruins, where layers of history reveal the city's pre-Hispanic past, and then explore the adjacent museum, which houses incredible artifacts, including the famous Coyolxauhqui Stone. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into the grandeur of the Aztec civilization, right next to the iconic Zócalo and Metropolitan Cathedral.
